1 in 5 Internet users prefer to read online news

In a news release issues this weekend, Nielsen/NetRatings announced it has found that some 1 in 5 Internet users prefer to read online news rather than actual newspapers in a first-ever study conducted in the United States. 72% of those surveyed still read offline editions of papers.

Senior media analyst Gerry Davidson, from Nielsen/NetRatings, said: “A significant percentage of newspaper readers have transferred their preferences from print to online editions.” The NY Times is the most-visited newspaper site in the US.
