Tushie-Lessard is joining the Goff Public team

Clarise Tushie-Lessard will draw on a strong background in media relations and politics to provide Goff Public clients with strategic advice.  Clarise will be a key part of Goff Public’s media relations team, drawing on relationships with Twin Cities reporters and vast experience in pitching stories to help our clients their most important share messages with the right audiences.

Clarise comes to Goff Public after having served as press secretary for Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman.  In this role, she crafted written communications materials from the mayor’s office, coordinated consistent messages across multiple city departments, composed major speeches for the mayor, managed media relations activities for the city, and managed the mayor’s and city’s social media channels.

Clarise is an accomplished speechwriter and messaging strategist.  She was instrumental in planning and writing three State of the City addresses, three budget addresses, and the mayor’s 2014 inaugural address.  She also developed and coordinated media strategies for major Saint Paul development projects, including the Lofts at Farmers Market, the Penfield and Lunds, the Arlington Hills Library and Recreation Center, and the Ford Plant.

Grassroots messaging is one of Clarise’s strengths.  She has played important roles in the campaigns of several prominent politicians, including former Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, former Senate Deputy Majority Leader Tarryl Clark, and Mayor Coleman.  She also managed messaging and media relations at campaign events for Minnesotans United for All Families, which led efforts to defeat the anti-gay marriage amendment.

Clarise is a member of the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2014 Leadership Saint Paul program.  The program brings together emerging leaders to raise awareness of the needs and challenges that affect Saint Paul and the East Metro area.

Clarise graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication and a minor in political science.  In her free time, she enjoys exploring Minnesota’s best hiking trails and reading good books in the sun.
