Remembering the 5th Anniversary of September 11

How sobering it is to think back five years ago today. I had been married 6 months almost to the day. I was at work early that day and was struggling to get on the internet to read the Star Tribune business section. It was amazing how quickly my frustration change to grief when I learned the reason for the slow internet access was what we now have coined the events of September 11.

Today, as I look back on the tragedy my thoughts and prayers go out to the families that lost loved ones that day and in the days following. I offer a special thanks to all our service men and women who responded that day and who have helped to keep our homeland safe since then.

In the words of poet, George Santayana, those who do not read history are doomed to repeat it. We must never forget.
