Carmichael Lynch Spong Names Dome Managing Principal, Chief Creative Officer

Carmichael Lynch Spong (CLS) has tapped public relations veteran Doug Dome to be managing principal, chief creative officer. Dome joins the firm from Chicago-based Dome HK, where he has served as president since 2004. A recognized, award-winning creative leader and consumer marketing expert, Dome will play an integral role in supercharging the growth of CLS, ensuring that the firm sets the high-water mark, achieves its goal of doubling its business in the next five years and maintains its position as champion of best practices.

Dome will focus his expertise in managing many of the firm's rapidly evolving areas of business including experiential and lifestyle marketing, ethnic marketing and marketing to women, youth, GLBT and mature adults. In addition, he will manage all digital elements across the firm. He will be based in the firm’s Chicago office.

Dome joins CLS after building a successful career as an entrepreneur and business manager, and as the founder of two nationally recognized boutique public relations firms. As president and U.S. creative director of Dome HK, he led an award-winning, creative marketing communications boutique agency based in Chicago . The firm was created in 2004 when Hill & Knowlton acquired Dome Communications, the agency Dome founded in 1997. Over the course of seven years, Dome HK built a blue-chip client roster and established itself as the nation’s premier creative public relations boutique.

Prior to starting Dome Communications, Dome was managing director of public relations and events for the Impact Communications Group, a subsidiary of Foote, Cone & Belding (FCB) in Chicago . Before working for FCB, Dome was manager of public relations for the Central Division of MCI Telecommunications Corporation. He also served as the opening director of public relations and promotions for the Fairmont Hotel-Chicago. Dome began his career with Marshall Field’s department store, where he rose to the position of corporate manager of special events.

Dome holds a master’s of management degree in marketing and international business from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University , and a bachelor’s of arts degree in business administration from Alma College , Alma , Mich. He teaches graduate-level integrated marketing communications at the University of Chicago . Dome also is a sought-after speaker and is authoring a book on creativity and workplace innovation. He resides in Chicago .
